Hi.

If anybody should have wondered what happened to me....

I have been kind of silent for a period, due to 2 reasons
- ApacheCON Budapest is next week, and last minute preparation are as usual hectic
- I am going through some private problems, which will hopefully be solved very soon.

I expect to be back full power after Budapest, in the meanwhile I am working on getting a set of buildbots to work as I want. The idea is to provide a nightly build + log of the repo/branches we want for our main platforms.

Hi Jan, very sorry to hear about that… I hope everything will be ok soon. Best of luck.

Just an update on my silence as well: Last week I got pulled in to rescue an iOS project where the two developers that were previously working on it have left due to other commitments, and the client wants a fully working demo by tomorrow. There’s been a ton of work to do and I’ve been pulling some crazy hours, hence my lack of time for Corinthia.

In a week or so I expect to have time available again. I know I owe some of you email replies; I will get to them as soon as I have time.

I hope you have lots of fun in Hungary!

Will you make a buildbot repo so that other people can pitch in?

I hope so too, but it seems some people into apache prefer politics to getting work done (have we heard that before), I have been removed from my official duties (opening the conference etc)....in essence been fired as MC and Chair.

You gueess my thoughts, I was just wondering whether to make a repo, or just add the files to docFormats.

My current intention is to make a repo, that contains:
- Build scripts for all platforms
- A list of what to build on each platform (branches 32/b64 bit etc)
- Log files and binaries from nightly run will be pushed to the repo

Once the repo gets too big, we simply squash all the changes.

The buildbots will run on my private home server (32core 64Gb ram, 6Tb disk).

That sounds like we could use a dedicated forum (just to keep the main forum less noisy) for failed build notifications.

I am currently setting up a script that uses Mutt to generate (and upload) an mbox for this forum (since Google search is nice, but cmd line tools are still better :) and that script could probably pressed into service to check the log files and create notification posts for failures.

I saw your build invitation. I am not sure we need mails, but I do not mind it. The scripts I write are currently only making a git commit of the log.

Git commit is perfect, the script can pull the log down, parse out the fails and then create one mail per failed build with an appropriate subject line. Might be handy, so people can check the logs trivially. We'll see if it's useful --- plus there is the fun in making this thingy, I've not played with mail tools before, now I have a reason to :>
