I have an iphone 6 Plus with a broken home button. I have turned on Assistive Touch and this now works. I want to factory reset to give the phone to my daughter. Will a factory reset also turn off Assistive Touch, will I be able to set up phone again.

No you will not. Without a working home button you will not be able to complete setup. The home button is an essential piece of hardware and as with all essential hardware, eventually your only option is to get that hardware fixed.

The Home button on my iPad 2 stopped working a couple of days ago. I looked online to see how to "fix" this and configured the iPad so that the button is now on my screen... Not the best thing, but it does the job.

The day after the Home button failed, my iPad stopped charging. I stopped at the closest Apple Store, saw a tech at the Genius Bar, she tested it with a new cable and it worked. Great! Just 20$ to fix the problem!

I'm currently on vacation ( of course this has to happen while you're on vacation... What would be the "fun" in having iPad troubles when you're close to home.. ;-) ), so when I got back to the hotel, I plugged it in to charge, but after trying 6 different outlets, I still didn't get the charging battery sign.... So back to the Apple Store... When I got there, plugged it in with the new cord and it worked! Then the tech came to have a look at it, saw that it was charging, thought I was insane (!!!), unplugged it, plugged it again and then, next to the % of battery it said "Not charging".... Unpluged it a few times, tried wiggling the cord, and then it started charging again....

I have a huuuuuuuge question, ive screwed up entirley badly by trying to factory reset my phone not knowing my home button didnt work ive now gotten as far as the "press home button to upgrade" screen however due to the fact i cant turn off the phone ether im not sure what to do? s there anyway i could bypass this screen without having to use the home button? PLEASE NEED HELP!!!

Same happened here till I started messing with it sooo... 1st make sure ur phone is off now before u press the power button ur gonna hold down the volume down button while holding it down then press the power on button till u see the apple logo but still hold on to the volume one and it should take you straight too language.. hope this helped =)

Same here! Anyone have a work around to this? Lots of post on how to restore an iPhone without a home button, but can't find anything about AFTER it's been restored and now stuck on the screen that says "press home button to open."

Okay on to business, you can do a reset from Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings this won't delete anything or restore to factory settings, so I believe this would be the equivalent of holding down the Sleep & Home buttons together.

Thank you Steve! This work... I was hoping it would fix my "Not charging" problem, but it did not..... Now I'm at 16% and I still have a few days more of vacation to go..... Don't want to spend it at the Apple Store.....

...actually, I take that back. The volume down button trick worked to get past the initial welcome screen, but after I click through to restore from an iCloud backup, another "Hello" screen comes up, and I cannot get past that. If I restart the phone, it just brings me back to Step 1, pre-restored phone. Anyone find a way to get past this?

I've not faced such an issue (because my home button is not broken) but if you are using ios10 and above. At the screen where "press home button to unlock" message is shown, pull down your notification bar, swipe right. In this you can seen widgets, in 'Siri app suggestion' widget, select any app and it will prompt lock screen password screen. You can enter your password and good to go. Immediately go to Settings->General->Assecciblity-> Assistive touch. Turn assistive touch on.

I know that you can get past this without a working home button--I'll try to remember how I did it last. It will be something like long pressing the power button to slide to power off, then hitting cancel and you will end up at "choose your setup language". If that doesn't work then it will be long press power and slide to power off then turn on and you'll be at language screen. Let me know which one works for you. I am 100% sure this is possible, so if you don't have it figured out by tomorrow I'll check on the exact solution when I get back to the shop.

I had this issue on iOS 10.3. If you are stuck at the "Hello, push home button" screen. I just turned the phone off (with the lock/power button) and then when it restarted, it was right past that screen asking me which language I want to choose. Then you can finish setting up the phone and go to settings to turn on the Accessibility home button.

There is one way to get into iOS 10's setup and that is using iTunes. When you plug in your iPhone, on the "summary" page, there is "configure accessibility" button. Enable "Voice Over" and then go onto the iPhone and you can double tap the "press home to open" text using your touchscreen

From that point, you can enable display of a "soft" (onscreen) home button. This restores all of the functionality of your phone. The only inconvenience is that the soft home button covers up some of the display screen real estate. However, it can be relocated, and can be adjusted for transparency.

I really struggled with this because I couldn't access the iphone because the home button wasn't working and then the itunes account would prompt me to "respond on the iphone to continue" and I couldn't do that because the only way to do that was to push the home button.

was the screen replaced? if so, and the button doesn't feel like it once did; it may be the screws holding in the button itself. i know when I've done replacements and screwed the bracket screws in to tight the button wont press properly.

To get past the HELLO screen whit a broken home button you can disconect and reconnect the battery and you will see that now you can choose the language and country, afther finishing setup you can start assistive touch in settings.

I've tried everything but nothing seemed to work. Lastly I thought I'll backup my old iphone with assistive touch settings turned on and I restored the backup to the new iPhone and luckily assistive touch appeared on the screen. Not sure if it works for you, but give it a try.

when you get to the hello screen, shut down your phone with the power button, wait for it to turn off fully.. then hold the off button to turn back on and it should come strait up with different languages to use from, then skip everything so you can get to the settings and put on AssistiveTouch in accessibility in settings. then go along to set up your iphone

If anyone needs an updated answer. The only way I got it to work was by taking the SIM card from my phone and putting it into the iPad. I'm not exactly sure how it worked but I was having an activation or whatever issues and it kept saying I needed to contact Apple support but once I put the SIM card in, it started up and took me through
