MA recommitment day

Happy Easter to all of you!!!

I would like to propose a plan for recommitment day June 7 ,8  weekend. We are having Jillu's wedding on June 7th. Many people are going for it. 

Plan is to have a MA  gathering  on May 31th at Baltimore from 10:00AM till afternoon.  And meet on Sunday June 8th at local venue. Philly, Baltimore, SJ will gather at respective venue own convenient time.

Hello,

Is there any reason we cannot have the regional gathering on Sunday the 8th? Things have been moving in the region and I think it is best to seize the initiative. If we really want the Holy Spirit to change our region, we should gather on the day that the Church has appointed for it.

I see your point. But if many are going for Jilu’s wedding (I am not one of them) we won’t have people to gather on June 7th.

Another idea is we gather some where after Jilu’s wedding. Where is the wedding happening?

Hi Josemon Chettan,

I don't think a huge amount of people are going for Jilu's wedding. Even among those that are going, it should not be an issue to gather on the next day (Sunday June 8th). If the gathering is in afternoon / evening, even people who are traveling from Baltimore will have plenty of time to get home and rest. Anyone traveling farther can make arrangements to stay with a JY family when needed.

The wedding is happening in north Jersey so it is unlikely to gather afterwards. (Technically that's not even part of Midatlantic Region.) The reception is from 3:30 to 7:30. We might be able to have it in Philly and invite the rest of the region. In that case, those attending Recommittment Day would have to leave the reception early. It's possible to do it this way, but it's probably not the best option.

In any case, I surely hope that we would be able to gather either on June 7th (Pentecost vigil) or June 8th (Pentecost itself). If we are a movement based in the Holy Spirit, few things can be more important than celebrating Pentecost together.

Gathering at Philly on Sunday afternoon may not be a good option for Baltimore as we have the Parish Mass at 4.30 PM.

I like Jevelson chettan's idea to have a regional gathering on May 31st as a preparatory meeting for re-commitment day and on June 8th, celebrate the day locally .
