Hello,

I have a question about a hardware raid for Container Linux CoreOs. Will be the LSI MegaRAID SAS 9341-4i supported by this OS ? If not, where can I find a list for supported hardware raid controllers?

Sincerly

Gerd

The easiest way to test is to give it a shot. Most commodity hardware is supported and we’re happy to add new ones if they are widely deployed.

Can you try to boot the latest alpha with that card?

Hi,

no, I can not test, because I have not yet bought a controller. If someone tells me that the card works, then I buy it or another Controller (for 2 hard disks) that works.

Hi Gerd,

I'm asking our infrastructure and container linux folks if they maintain any lists like that.

I'll follow up if they share anything.

Cheers,

Hi Gerd,

We don't maintain any official lists. It was suggested the following (more general) linux community lists might be useful:

We do include a driver called megaraid but without an exact PCI ID it is impossible to know if it will be supported:

Hello everyone,
I have now bought a raid controller MegaRaid SAS 9341-i4 and installed it in our computer.
Then I booted the computer with the current alpha version of coreos.
The controller is recognized by the operating system, but there is no hard disk on which I could install coreos.

Here are some issues from the console

Lspci | Grep MegaRAID
02: 00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS-3 3008 [Fury] (rev 02)

Lsmod
Megaraid_sas 126976 0
Sci_mod 192512 6 sd_mod, megaraid_sas, usb_storage, libata, uas, sr_mod

Journalctl

Localhost kernel megaraid_sas 0000: 02: 00.0 Ignore DCMD timeout
Localhost kernel megaraid_sas 0000: 02: 00.0 Could not get contr
Localhost kernel megasas_sriov_heartbeat_handler + 0xa1c / 0x10d0
Localhost kernel megasas_setup_jbod_map + 0x1a0c / 0x2200 (megaraid)

Under / dev / disk / ... there is no hard disk label or comparable.

Is there a chance that the raid controller is correctly recognized, so I can install coreos?

Many Thanks

 Gerd

Have you looked at the BIOS settings on your machine? I've seen cases
where these MegaRAID cards aren't correctly configured in the BIOS and
won't work properly. I don't have any of those cards in front of me so I
can't test it out for you.

Hi Alex,

I think I have the Raid Controller configured correctly. I have an Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS installed on the computer without problems.
Because of the problems, we try to install Coreos with PXE and then implement a software RAID for the data hard disk
