Hello everybody!

I know that CoreOS is a server distribution, but I am curious what would it take to bring the desktop environment to it? Since CoreOS is using Docker, would it be able to run this project: https://github.com/rogaha/docker-desktop ? Or is there any other way to install X server, a WM and GUI apps?

Thanks!

The idea of putting a desktop environment on CoreOS pretty well violates the goal of the project. The docker-desktop project appears to be using ssh to escape the container. I would imagine if you had core-os on a server in your lan, you could use it from some other system by sshing to it. Any minimal distro with an x server should do.

CoreOS doesn't include any graphics drivers so even if a container
provided X it wouldn't have a device to display to.
