1. EDICS Program Teaches Basics of Engineering
----------------------------------------------------------------
MIT OCW is pleased to announce the publication of a unique teaching and learning tool on the Web site. We now offer open access to the Engineering Design Instructional Computer System (EDICS).

EDICS is an online, interactive, multimedia program that allows students with little background in engineering to learn about topics such as bearings, cylinders, shafts/rotors, drawing, fastening/joining, transmissions, and materials through text, graphics, animations, diagrams, and video and audio clips.

EDICS (which is now in use at high schools and universities in the United States, and around the world), is now openly available through MIT OCW. To discover more about the EDICS program, visit http://ocw.mit.edu/ans7870/resources/edics/index.htm.

2. How Can My Institution Join the OpenCourseWare Consortium?
----------------------------------------------------------------
The OpenCourseWare Consortium encourages the creation of OpenCourseWare projects at institutions around the world. If you are considering proposing an OCW project at your institution, the Consortium can help. We've collected and distilled our experiences in creating OCW initiatives on the OpenCourseWare Consortium Web portal, and we can provide some individualized consulting to help get your project off the ground

On the Consortium Web portal, you will find information related to:
     * Making the Case
     * Intellectual Property and Licensing
     * Organization
     * Publication Process
     * Technology
     * Communication and Evaluation

Also on the OCW Consortium Web portal, find a listing of all the current OCW projects from around the world -- 51 in all through July 20, 2006 -- and a list of all current members of the OCW Consortium. For further assistance in planning your OpenCourseWare project, please contact us at feed...@ocwconsortium.org.
