CQOCW A movement of open knowledge is arising around the whole world presently. Since April 1st, 2001, MIT first shared their courses on the Internet. Many universities and organizations from the all over the world stepped into this movement, too. (Statistically, more than 40 universities and organizations in the OCW Consortium have launched their own OCW websites.) In order to introduce Chinese Quality Courses to the world, China Open Resources for Education (CORE) supports a project of translating Chinese Quality Courses into English for free sharing on the Internet. It is designed to promote Chinese Quality Courses and Chinese scholars, and to internationalize China’s Higher Education. In May 2005, CORE supported the translation of 12 Chinese Quality Courses from Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, Dalian University of Technology, Renmin University of China, Northwest University, and Zhejiang University. And now they share freely on the internet. CORE prepares to support the translation of another 40 or more Chinese Quality Courses in 2007. Anyone who is interesting in applying for the translation job, please fill in the following form (Download the application form). ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— 2. New Chinese Version of MITOCW 12 new Chinese Versions of MITOCW is available in May. By May 31, 2007, 265 Chinese Versions of OCW is available on CORE’s website. Events and Activities The Third Anniversary Ceremony China Open Resources for Education (CORE) celebrated its 3rd anniversary of its establishment on April 27, 2007 in Renmin University of China. Nearly 200 participators including educators, administrators and students from 30 CORE member universities attended this event. This celebration reviewed CORE’s Accomplishments over the past three years, and awarded pioneering CORE member universities, excellent professors and enthusiastic students in advancing open education in China. To view the celebration video, please click here. OCW Consortium Conference The OCW Consortium (OCWC) is an alliance of over 100 institutions providing (or developing) their own OCW web sites. It was estimated that there are about 3000 courses, in various languages, offered across the Consortium. The OCW Consortium web site is your portal to this vast resource. The fifth OCWC conference was held in Santander, Spain on May 2-3, 2007, graciously hosted by Universia. Over 100 representatives from five continents attended this conference.
