WordPerfect Office 2000 and Windoze 7

OK I know this is an oldie but I have been using WP from the late 80's
and do not like MS products. I have had little problem with WP9 to do
word processing. I do NOT use the rest of the bloatware that comes
with WPOffice 2000.

I have been running this on a Windoze 7 laptop for about 3 years but
yesterday for whatever reason WP (to type a letter) will no longer
start. I get the error message "Word Perfect 9 has stopped working".

Just prior to this, I installed a couple of CD insert software app's.
Looked at them, then deleted them. Mite this have caused the WP
startup problem? Hence my new install.

I removed all the folders and reinstalled since I have a legit copy.
Everything seems to go fine until they asked about modem connection
which obviously I NO longer have.

I also tried a few of the other Office selections on the dropdown menu
and they all work except for TWO (2)
1.Word Perfect (error message "Word Perfect 9 has stopped working")
2.Utilities -> WorkPefect XML Project Design (error message "
WorkPefect XML Project Designer has stopped working")

This is a legit copy but when I sent to corel.com to attempt to
register it, it would not accept the serial number on the CD disk
cover.

I have a couple choices:
1.try to get WP9 working again
2.scrap WP and buy a MS word processor
3.scrap WP that I have and get a newer expensive bloated suite even
though I ONLY want the word processor.
4.swith 100% to LibreOffice 5.1 which seems to pen a WP document
though some of the formatting is missing.

Group, can you stop the bleeding as I would really like to continue
with WP9.

Thanks for any HELP or suggestions as to how to resurrect this from
the dead.
