PROBLEM: You try to start the Visual Basic Editor (Tools, Visual Basic,
Visual Basic Editor) and you get the "An empty Global Macro Storage
will be created" and after clicking OK you get "Failed to save file"
followed by a message that the Global Macro Storage was not created.
Then, in the Visual Basic Editor there is no WordPerfect9.GMS item.

REASON: The registry key "VBA macro folder" contains the folder
location where WordPerfect attempts to create the WordPerfect9.GMS file
but if that folder doesn't exist you'll get the "Failed to save file"
error.

SOLUTION: You need to make sure the folder exists or change the key to
point to another folder. I'm assuming you know how to use regedit. You
may want to backup your registry or save the key before attempting
this.

Run REGEDIT and navigate to this key and verify that the "VBA macro
folder" key is pointing to a valid folder that you have read/write
access to. If not, create the folder or change the location that the
key points to.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\WordPerfect\9\Location of files\EN\VBA
macro folder

In WINDOWS 98 This key is usually set to:
"C:\Program Files\Corel\WordPerfect Office 2000\VBA"

In WINDOWS XP I've seen this key point to:
"C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application
Data\Corel\WordPerfect\9\Macros" Note:"UserName" must match the name
of the user.
