When I attempt to open a WP8 file (with a .wpd extension) from outside of WP
(e.g., in Explorer or by double clicking a e-mail attachment), I receive an
error saying "The file <file name>, as specified in the execution
parameters, cannot be opened." This seems to only happen when there is a
space in the file name. The error message only displays the file name from
the space to the ".wpd."

Any assistance would be very appreciated.

Try re-building the wpd file association from inside of wp8. C_Tech
Charles Rossiter offers this:

"In WPWin8/9 do Tools | Settings | Files. In the middle (and smallest)
box you can enter any extension you like. Click "Apply" and you will be
asked if you wish to register that association for use with WPWin8/9."

Thanks for the advice. I tried this and now WP 8 opens but with an empty
untitled document rather than the document I clicked.

Any other thoughts?

No error messages at all right? Good...

I know it sounds weird, but do it again. It will already say wpd in the
association box, but delete and retype it back in. You should be
prompted for confirmation just like before.

Sorry, that did not work. I still get no error message but I get no
document either. Anything else to try?

Sorry, but you just hit bottom of my 'well' on this :-(

Hopefully some others will jump in here with additional input...
