Spell check shuts down WordPerfect 8.0

After using spell check in WordPerfect 8.0, when I click on close spell
check, a window comes up saying that the entire wp application needs to
close ,sorry for the inconvenience...and so on......I am not able to
figure out why this problem is being caused. Thought it might relate to
the latest windows update kb908531, but found that it wasn't the
problem. Am not in a position to reinstall the application, since i
dont want to lose any macros and other custom functions. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
