Look under Tools, Settings, Files, Document. One of the options on the Document
tab should be "Backup Folder". The directory listed in this box needs to exist
somewhere that you have access. If the direcotry does not currently exist on
your computer either (a) create it or (b) change where this directory is
pointing. Hope this helps!

Here is the Knowledge Base document on this:

Error: The Specified Backup Folder No Longer Exists.
DocumentID: 15075
Revision Date: 1/21/98 3:39:05 PM

The information in this document applies to:
Corel® WordPerfect® 8 for Windows®

Problem

Repeatedly get the error: "The specified backup folder no longer exists. You
will need to recreate it or specify a new one in Tools Settings"

Answer:

Click on Tools | Settings. Check to see what folder and location WordPerfect
8.0 for Windows is looking at for the Backup folder. Either specify a new
backup folder here, or create a "Backup" folder in the directory specified.
Normally it is a sub directory of "Myfiles"

Details:

Either the "Backup" folder has been deleted, or the path to where the backup
folder resides has been changed.

from here double click on files. Middle of the page is the field where backup
folder location is specified. WP is trying to tell you this folder does not
exist and would like to have a 'real' one to work with. Simply click on the
folder icon next to this field and browse your way to a folder of your choice
(WP created one upon installation c:\myfiles\backup).

Let us know if you need further (farther?) help,

Are you working in a network environment where perhaps the backup
location is specified by the policy file? If so, I've seen circumstances
where this is not properly read, especially with shared user IDs, and WP
tries to default to it's default settings, which may not exist on your
PC. If this is the case, talk to whomever's in charge of your
environment -- manually setting file locations generally fixes problems
with reading from the policy, and the administrator should know what
they should be...

Best,
Gaby
