footnotes in wordperfect

I am typing a paper for my husband in Turbaian style/Chicago style for
a class in the master's program at the Unveristy of Mobile in Mobile
Alabama. I am inserting my footnotes and clicking on insert,
footnote, create and the curser goes to the bottom of the page which
is correct but the number at the end of the quoted section goes to the
next time in the body of the paper instead of right after the quoted
section.
Please help.
