QP10 and symbols

I'm running QP10 on a new XP system. When attempting to set currency format
in cells, I will get the standard two-decimal conversion but the dollar sign
symbol shows as ASCII garbage.
This is an odd problem. Two other systems will see the same files fine with
dollar signs showing. All three systems are the exact same OS and hardware
and implemented at the same time.
QP10 has been reinstalled to no success.
Anybody have any idea what is wrong with this particular OS/WP install?

What font you are using ?
right click for properties and check font.
try different font and let us know what happens!
