I have a new computer running Win2K. When I put in the Corel8 cd to install
the s/w it will start installing temporary files and then nothing happens.
Can Corel8 be installed on Win2K?
Here is what I have tried so far:

1. Check C:\WINNT\TEMP and C:\temp directory to make sure no files are found
in this directory. Delete all *.TMP files found.

2. Copy MAPNT40.DLL from the WP CD into the WINNT\SYSTEM32 folder, rename
MAPI32.DLL to MAPI32.BUF, then rename MAPNT40.DLL to MAPI32.DLL. Finally,
re-run the setup from the CD.

Are you logged in as Administrator at the time?

What version of WP8? -- find VOLINFO.TXT on the CD, note the number
shown. If 8.0.0.153, you would have to get a replacement disk from Corel.

There's also a possibility that CD-ROM settings are the issue, but check
the obvious first. If you have a ton of free disk space, you can also
copy the CD contents to the hard drive & then install from there (to a
different location on the hard drive, of course) or even use the SUBST
command to make it look like a drive location.

What program release of the Suite 8 do you have? (Use Notepad and open
the file VOLINFO.TXT in the Root Folder on the Suite CD.) If it is not
at least 8.0.0.225, then you will have to obtain a replacement CD from
Corel.

I figured out that I had to uninstall Mcafee anti-virus and then reboot the
computer and then Corel would install fine.

Thanks for posting back, especially as I haven't heard of this before (but
new things pop up for W2K installs all the time, don't they?)

Good info for my notes.
