I have tried to install Syite 8 on an NT4 station with SP5, and 64MRam.
Every time I attempt this the install craps out, and Dr. Watson reports a
problem with WPI8.exe. I have tried from the local CD Rom, across the
network, using different combinatyions of ram in different slots. I have
tried the CD in another PC without a problem, and I have also tried copying
the contents of the CD onto my local drive and installing from there.
Sometimes the process gets as high as 63%, and always gets past 24%, but the
results have always been the same. WPI8.exe error. Has anyone seen this
before and can you offer a suggestion to get around this problem??

Thanks in advance
Bryan

Please report more of the error message you get. There are many
possibilities and without that additional information, it would take to
long to try to go one-by-one with each possibility.

Ialsohave had the video crap out on me while installing, but only once or
twice. The following error massage is EXACTLY what I get.

"An application error has occured ane an application log is being generated.
WPI8.exe Exception: Access violation (0xc0000005), Address 0x2ffa24d1"

Was wondering if it could be a problem with the drive itself. If the NT
install was not "clean" to begin with could this not cause a problem like
this??

Thanks
Bryan

The following article provides steps to resolve this problem:
http://kb.corel.com/kbdocs/CWS8032/WP80WIN/WP80WIN_12308.htm

This usually involves:

Rename any *.IP and *.TP files on the system
Clean the TEMP folder & make sure there is adequate disk space available
If WP7 is installed, rename its APPMAN folder for the WP8 install
Close all TSR programs, esp. scanner/OCR and anti-virus
(The balance of the suggestions don't apply to NT.)

If necessary, copy the CD contents to a hard drive (or network drive) and
install from there.

It is not likely a problem w/the NT install itself but might result if
there is no defined TEMP folder or something similar, or if the virtual
memory settings are inadequate for the installed RAM (should be
min=RAM+12, max=2XRAM or more).

Thanks Debra, your suggestion worked. I renamed the one IP file and the one
TP file. Checked the virtual memory, checked the TEMP directories, and did
the install. Worked like a charm

Thanks
