Hi...I'm using WP7 (v. 7.0.2.45) for Windows 95.  Yesterday, one of my memory cards failed and was replaced.  Now, when I try to open a file in my WP program, I get the message "WPWin Error:  Cannot Open File." However, I can open my files from other computers on my office network.  I thought the problem may be with my extensions (I don't use them), but when I add an extension to an existing file name using F2, it still won't work.  If I create a new document and save it, even with an extension, I can't go back and open it again.

Also, I've lost my toolbar settings, and I can't get them back.  When I try to create and save a new toolbar, it reverts back to the default toolbar.  Same with the powerbar and keyboard.

Should I just reinstall WP?

Thanks,
Allison

First, I would check to make sure there are no hardware conflicts. Go into Control Panel and double click the Systems icon and select the Device Manager tab. You may have to expand the devices by clicking the plus sign and check to see if there are any warning flags about conflicts. If not, I would first try renaming your default template (usually WP7XX.WPT where XX stands for the country -- WP7US.WPT in U.S.).

Hi Jim... I checked for conflicts and found none.  I'm really not sure what you meant by renaming the default template, but I tried it anyway.  I found it under the templates directory and renamed it "WP7US1.WPT".  Then I went into Preferences and tried to change the default template, but it wouldn't accept the change.

Also, I've since removed WP7 and re-installed the program, but the same problems are still occurring.  I'm now at a total loss...

Hmm, the obvious suspect is the memory card. Run Scan Disk if you haven't already. Delete all the *.tmp files you can (use the Find Files program) and run Defrag. If still having problems, try booting in safe mode and watch for any error messages. To run in Safe Mode, press F8 when you see the message "starting windows 9x". This will enable the testing of memory by himem.sys (relatively primitive test). If no errors, see if you can get hold of a copy of Norton Utilities -- specifically the program NDIAGS.EXE which runs from DOS and can be run from a diskette. It more extensively tests memory. After this, the next thing I would try is uninstalling WP7 again and running the Clean Registry program which will zap all your registry entries including deletion of folders (back up your documents and custom  templates and macros first). The registry cleaner at
