I'm having a very odd problem with my Toshiba 2545CDS running
WordPerfect 7 through Windows 98. Whenever I right click on a wp icon
and drop down to "properties," the resulting dialog box with the
information about the document (provided, I think, by the operating
system) also causes a small empty blue square (one inch) to appear in
the exact center of the screen. It has beveled edges and will agreeably
disappear when I press either Enter or Escape. Otherwise it will
maintain its position no matter what other applications I run.

Any suggestions?

Are you saying this only happens with WP documents, or what is the
connection with WP?

Have you tried updating video drivers & bringing the settings down a bit?

This only happens with WP documents. I haven't tried updating video drivers
or bringing down the settings. I don't know how to do either. Could you tell
me what sort of connection there is between the video drivers and what
settings you're talking about?

Thanks!

Right-click on an empty spot on your desktop & choose Properties. Go to
the Settings tab. Take each setting and reduce it; for example, if it
says 1million colors (or, say, 24-bit color) then make it 16-bit or 64K
colors. If it says 1024x768 resolution, make it 800x600. Etc.

Also make your background/wallpaper a plain color. Turn off any
screen-savers.

For updating the video drivers, you have to usually contact the mfr of
your system & download from their website, or they provide a link to a
mfr's website.

You can also boot into "safe" mode & see if it still happens, as a quick
way to emulate the idea of dropping display settings.
