Problems getting WP to display underlining

In both WP6.1 and WP7 if I turn on underline, either single or double,
then press the space bar it spaces but doesn't display the line on the
screen. If I send it to the printer it prints the underline. If I do a
reveal codes it shows underline. Why doesn't it display on the monitor?
It used to on my old system but after installing on a new system it
doesn't. Is this some option somewhere?
If there is a better newsgroup to ask this please tell me. Thx..

Try changing the resolution of your monitor, and/or the refresh rate ... which are
the usual reasons you can't see a single line like that.

I tried putting the old monitor back on but had the same problem. Why would this only
affect WP? MS Word documents are fine. Thx for the suggestion though. Jeff..

WP writes directly to the screen. Word is not WYSIWYG and does not write to the
screen the same way.

Don't change the MONITOR, change the RESOLUTION and refresh rates in Display
properties (in Windows).

You can also try putting /FL after the command shortcut for WP, which changes how it
writes to the screen.

Debra Earle suggested in a reply to add the /FL startup parameter to the
command line for the shortcut that launches WPWin.

Another one to try is /DM for Display Metrics which often resolves problems
with underlines not showing. First try just /DM and then try /DM-90.
