Is there any way to get 4.2 to work with my scanner (an HP scanjet 5300c
usb) in win98 SE? A vague mention of scanner problems if draw is also
installed convinced me to disable my scan.dll, but this same readme implies
maybe i can get it working.

Corel Twain
Corel Ventura does not currently recognize Corel Twain as a scanner option.
If you try to install Corel Ventura Publisher's TWAIN with CorelDRAW TWAIN
already installed , you will receive a "Corel Source Image Error" and the
system will appear locked. If you answer OK to all messages and wait for
several minutes, Corel Ventura Publisher will recover and you can then use
File Manager or DOS to rename Corel Ventura Publisher's SCAN.DLL file to
SCAN.SAV or edit SCAN.INI file to reflect a scanner other than TWAIN.

Probably not. The Ventura Scan utility was based on a pre-release version of
TWAIN and never has worked reliably.

Even when 4.2 was current technology, the best bet was to scan to file and
import into CVP rather than scan from CVP.

CVP4.2 and CVP8 are completely different applications. They share a name and
some basic ideas and that is about all. You can't evaluate either by working
with the other.

I'm tying it to see how i like CV before investing in CV 8. The 30-day run
of the trial copy of v8 is not long enough for me to decide - i have a basic
book on ancient CV use on order now, which should allow me to check it out
well..

So far i love the frames and import, and like the fact it works fine with
docs created by WPO2k, providing i save in WP5 format. Have to wait for a
book to figure out jumps. Text docs, i still have to figure out which
variation (asci, ansi, etc.) i'm trying to bring in.
