Problem: DRAW cannot be launched, if V5 is open.
If V5 is opened: the error message "corelapp.ini
shows invalid user directory".
appears upon starting DRAW 5.
Then "fault in CDRTXT50.DLL".
DRAW crashes.
If V5 is closed: no error message when launching
DRAW 5.0.
If DRAW is open: the error message "corelapp.ini
shows invalid user directory".
appears upon starting V5.
The program V5 however can
then be run.

1. Did you install Draw5 and V5 to the same location?
2. Did you use the default location?
3. If you look in CORELAPP.INI what is the user directory set to? If it's a
network directory, perhaps try setting it to a local directory.
4. If all else fails, try an uniinstall, delete the Corel50 directory, and then
reinstall to the default directory.

Draw5 and V5 have been to the same location: C:/COREL50/... I never used
another one.
Corelapp.ini shows the same.
Only the true type directory is C:/WINNT/SYSTEM. Does this raise error
CDRTXT50.DLL?
I deleted the Corel50 directory in explorer, and
performed standard installation as given by the disc, as I did before
(German).
What I found:
After installation the first launch of V5 or D5 creates a new line in
corelapp.ini 1=C:/WINNT/
under line 0=C:/TEMP/:
Error messages are still the same.
The system allows access without error message to one user-program only
(either V5 or
Draw5).

Well, I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that you're not crazy!
(But you already knew that, huh?!) I got one of the tech support guys over at
Corel to check it out on an NT system and he was able to duplicate the problem.
The bad news is that there is no known workaround at this time (since V5 was
developed long before NT4). :-(

Thanks, U are making me happy... so far.
Should I just ignore the error messages and use the system as is ?
(besides that I can launch V5 and DRAW only one after the other).
How did other NT users solve it?
Can I hope for a solution on NT or should I prefer to install WIN98?

That is one option. And if that works for you, I don't see any problems with it.
I think it may have something to do with file sharing on NT -- one instance uses
a shared file and the second is locked out from accessing it.
I guess that raises one more possibility. You could try installing Ventura and
Draw to separate directories.
>How did other NT users solve it?
I think you are the first to report it. Most V5 users switched back to V4.2 or
upgraded to V7/V8 -- V5 was not a high point for Ventura! ;-)
>Can I hope for a solution on NT or should I prefer to install WIN98?
I doubt that you will see any work on the issue since Draw is 4 versions beyong
version 5 and Ventura is 3 versions beyond version 5.
