I installed VP 4.2 on my new laptop but every time
it tries to build the environ.wid upon the first
startup I get an illegal operation message. This also
happened a couple of years ago when installing on my
desktop--I think because my Windows font directory was
overloaded with fonts. After I deleted several hundred
fonts, it worked. But the font directory on my laptop
has only approx 130 fonts.
I have ordered a newer version of VP but do not
know how long it will take to arrive, and would like to
have mobility with something I am working on now. And
the same thing could happen with the new version, so
I'd be grateful for a solution.
Thanks.
Carol

Not likely. The new version doesn't use width tables.

Try changing your default printer in Windows. BTW, what version of Windows
are you running? You will have some problems with 4.2 on anything higher
than Windows 3.11.

Sounds like a printer driver problem. Try installing the same printer driver
you used on your desktop machine, and make it the default system printer
before opening VP4.2 for the first time.
