I don't really know ObjectPAL - I'm just teaching myself on-the-fly,
jumping around the Reference, checking for syntax errors, and running
it to see if things work. I've managed to write a query statement for
two tables, to run upon clicking a button in a form.

:::
method pushButton(var eventInfo Event)
var
q Query
tv TableView
endVar
q = query

numbinfo.db|Number|DNIS |Bridge |Carrier |
|_numb |Check |Check |Check |

numbsafe.db|Number|Customer|Contact|Phone Number|
|_numb |Check |Check |Check |

endQuery

executeQBE(q)
tv.open("answer.db")
endMethod
:::

The tables are linked on the Number field, and I believe I used an
example element properly. But when the answer table comes up, it
includes fields "Number" and "Number_1" - it's repeating the
information. From what I understand, the Number fields must be listed
in the statement so they can include the example element and thereby
link the tables. But how can I prevent the Number_1 field from
appearing and duplicating the data?

I'd appreciate any help on this. I've been trying to figure it out
and I just can't come up with how to do it. If you're willing to help
but my question isn't clear, please let me know!

Thanks,
Meredith

Meredith,
Odd, huh? The "Number" fields aren't checked, so why do they appear in the
answer table at all??
You can build the query in interactive Paradox, save the query, then copy it
into the method with |Edit|Paste from|... maybe this will work?
Also, you might try -
tv.open(":priv:answer.db")

Maybe the field name "Number" is confusing Pdox. Try renaming the field.
