BDE initializing error

After installing version Paradox 9 (as part of Office 2000), I made the
mistake of uninstalling Corel Office 7 (w/o Paradox 7). Now I can't
open Paradox 9 because of error "Cannot initialize BDE". I've checked
and I have a BDEadmin file in IDAPI7 folder under Office7 and I have a
BDE file in the Control Panel. When I try to open both of them they
give the same error message: Exception EDBEngineError in module
BDEADMIN.EXE at 00054F92, error occurred while attempting to initialize
the Borland Database Engine (error $2109).

Any chance of an easy fix for this, or do I have to install everything
again?

Open the registry and look for the key shown below. Make sure DLLPATH and
CONFIGFILE01 is correct. (The values shown are not the standard values)

Thanks for the help. I looked in the registry file and everything in
the folder you mentioned refers to the older (Office7) version. In
fact, I only find one executable named BDEAdmin and that is in the older
fileset. Don't find anything refering to BDE32 and don't have any files
named Idapi32 OR Idapi.cfg. So one new problem appears to be I don't
have a config file for BDE and a second problem appears to be that I
don't have a new BDEAdmin file. Is it possible that 9 uses the same
version as 7?

Probably I should just reinstall. The problem is I'm on a trip and
don't have my CD with me.

You cannot use bdecfg32.exe to edit bde 5.x. You cannot even use Bdeadmin
form bde 4.51 to edit Bde 5.x.

From where I am now (Sweden) , I can't recommend anything but a complete
reinstall.
