Memo Fields from Paradox to Access

I am gradually converting our company Paradox database info to Access.
In Paradox the table specifies memo field and clicking on a memo record
reveals a neatly formatted memo.
Attempting to import the table into Access results in the memo field
being punctuated by squares (presumably a delimit character) at each
carriage return in the original Paradox memo.

Is it possible to successfully transfer memo data from Paradox tables to
Access. There is quite a lot of memo data associated with the existing
tables which I hope to recover. Linking to the table appears to result
in the same formatting issues.
