I am running a AMD k6 500 with 128 meg ram. Every six minutes my processor
seems to go into la la land. If I am on the internet it stops sending or
receiving. It stays like this for about a minute then starts back up. It
does this every six minutes. The mouse moves but I can't get out of any
program. Task manager shows nothing unusal running. Lost

Bob, are you still having this problem? I'm curious because I'm having a
very similar problem with my Intel Pentium III/733 with 128MB ram. If you
are using a dialup internet connection, and have a network interface card
in your computer with TCP/IP bound to it, unbind the TCP/IP from the NIC,
and see if the problem goes away. Of course, if you are using Cable or
DSL, you won't be able to access the internet without the TCP/IP. This is
the problem that I've been having, and can't figure out a solution to.

In article <t74qnac...@corp.supernews.com>,

Hello,

I am having the same problem, when on the internet my computer just
locks up for between 15 to 30 seconds and then frees itself up and
continues transfering the web information. I have gone through the
IRQ's
and made sure there is no conflict and I have updated the motherboard
BIOS, ALI drivers and still the problem is there.

I am also running a cable modem and a 56K telephone modem (for
faxing).
I will try removing it to see if it fixes the problem and will post
back on it.

Anyone with any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Amphibian
