I have a form that performs a function every 2 minutes. Is it possible to
have this performed either in the background or as a multi-task so the user
can carry on what he / she is doing. It does interact with the desktop, so
I'm not sure if this is preventing it!

Paradox doesn't use true multi-tasking, but you can simulate multi-tasking
using the built-in timer() method. This schedules an event to occur every x
milliseconds, but does not tie up Paradox, which allows the user to be
working on something else simultaneously. Look it up in the help files.
