I have Metacreations version 6.0.0 running a Mac G4 Dual 450. I've
downloaded the 6.1 patch. When I run it the installer tells me that "the
files are already present on your system or not required for your
system". How could this be? I launch Painter and it still comes up as
Metacreations Painter 6.0.0. Why is it not coming up as Corel Painter
6.1 if the file are present on my system?

Hi Kenneth,

I installed 6.1 patch on my G4. The same thing happened initially.
First you need to delete your original painter 6 application/files/aliases
(remember to save any custom brush etc. files first), Next reinstall Painter
6 from your original CD (make sure you have your serial number to hand). Now
WITHOUT launching the painter 6 application, run the 6.1 install.
This should do the trick.
(I also allocated some extra ram to the program, just for good measure).

did you download the .bin file or the .hqx file? i'm not sure if the .bin
file corruption is fixed yet but the .hqx file works fine. i installed it
right over painter 6.03 with no problem and now have been working with 6.1
on my G4 400 since the patch was first introduced. others seem to be having
problems for some reason. so to test i tried it twice and it still worked
fine. then i installed painter 6 (metacreations version) on my iMac,
downloaded the 6.1 .hqx file and installed it without any problem. and this
is on Os 9.1. it looks more like specific individual system conflicts.

fwiw I had strange desktop icon disappearances using 6.1 on a Mac system 8.6
and finally deleted it and reinstalled 6.0. I couldn't get the 6.03 patch to
work, either.
