Is there a way to get around the banding that is caused by using the Dodge
tool?
The tool seems to cause banding and pixelization where I apply it. Unlike
the one in Photoshop
Maybe it's not that way in ver6, but I haven't upgraded yet.

Also, is there a tool in Painter that behaves like the Lighten RGB and
Darken RGB tool. Like the one in Paint Shop Pro.

Thanks,
JG

Go to Brushes palette: Control menu: Spacing. Move the Spacing/Size and Min
spacing sliders to the left. That should eliminate the banding.
Brush strokes in Painter are (generally) made up of individual "dabs" and
sometimes you need to adjust the space width between dabs.
