The "." is used to express a statement.
Correct example: WP8 for Linux files are compatible with their Win95
counterparts. Notice the use of the ".", as the user states a fact.
Incorrect example: Does WordPerfect 8 for Win95, Quattro Pro 8 for Win
95 and Corel Draw 8 for Win95 files readable by their counterparts
under Linux. Notice how the user asks a question, but incorrectly uses
"." as though he was stating a fact.
The "!" is used to strongly express a fact or an emotion or happiness,
anger or others.
Correct example: Yay! WP8 for Linux files are compatible with their
Win95 counterparts! Notice the use of the "!", as the user seems happy
about the fact stated.
Incorrect example: Is WP8 compatible or not! Obviously an
interrogation, requiring a "?".
The "?" is used to indicate an interrogation, a query, a question.
Correct example: Does WordPerfect 8 for Win95 files readable by their
counterparts under Linux?
Incorrect example: I assure you they are?
Tips on using the "?": If the sentence starts with one of the following,
it's a good indication that the sentence should end with a "?": Does,
Can, Is, Will, Should, Would, Could, Shall.
I hope this helps you out! Just laugh about it :-)

The file format for WP hasn't changed, but the with version 9 (under both
Windows and Linux) there are new default formats for QP and Draw. However,
both can read from and save to version 8 files, so you shouldn't have any
problems.
