Have tried to install 2 different 'flavours' of Linux so far and just get
endless 0's and 1's filling screen on reboot, apparently something to do
with an inflatable bed (LILO)
(Tried TurboLinux 6.0 and also Corel Linux)
Think u can see what I mean :)
Thanks in advance.

Your question is kinda vague with me knowing what I know.
lilo boots from the mbr or diskette.
If you want a lilo mbr boot from 2nd hard drive, your bios would have
a boot order selection for D.
Is the 20g drive scsi? If pc is only a year or so old, lilo should
be able to get to linus on the 20g.

My /etc/lilo.conf has
lba32
which lets me boot past the 1024 cyl point.

If the above breaks your system, it's yours and you keep both pieces.
Practice safe computing. Backup the file before you change it.
Do a, man command_here or cat command_here, before using it.
Post your lilo.conf.

You will notice the boot is floppy but the mbr was copied from the floppy
and placed in c:\ bootsect.lnx. You will also notice the lilo doesn't start nt.
The line image = /boot/vmlinuz is the important one here. When you run lilo
it needs to know /boot and root / then it can place that in the mbr.
You would have the section that points to windows.
Older distributions of linux(with 2.2.x kernel) don't have support for
disk with ATA66 interface, maybe that is problem ... try newer
distribution with 2.4.x kernel(rh7.2,mdk8.1)
