Dear Corel Expert,

I have experienced problems saving files initially designed on previous
versions of Corel Draw (Corel 7) when opened and edited with Corel 9.
The problem persists even when I attempt to exit the program without
saving the file. After clicking on "exit" the following messages appear:

- An unexpected error occurred in CorelDRAW 9. Please save your current
document in another file, then quit and restart CorelDRAW 9.
or
-CorelDRAW 9 has performed an illegal operation.....

I have CorelDraw 9 installed on a PS 586/166MMX; 64MB RAM; HDD3.2MB

Should I re-instal the program?

Thanks
Ivo Dimov

I have the same problems except that it doesn't seem to reserve it's
crashing to old Corel files.

Run Corel Setup Program from Start menu and select "Update current
Installation". You have to reset default settings holding F8 on Draw
startup and re-apply SP1 after that.

Hi my old friend from Russian FIDO, :)

Some times ago I has many problems with Corel DRAW9 and PhotoPaint9.
Every time, when I close one from two opens *.cdr, or *.tif in
PhotoPaint9, I get crashes. I get crashes often in others simply
situations, and don't understand, why other people speaks about good
stability of Draw or Paint.
Later I found this option - "Update current installation"... and ALL MY
PROBLEMS DISSAPPEARED!!! It seems, that installation engine of
CorelDraw9 has serious bug, and in some systems he can't install
correctly. I has a feeling, than problem may by with OLE Automation and
registry entries. Early scripts don't run on my machine and I gets
reports about errors in theese scrips constantly. Now all scripts works
perfectly.

Further, I don't found, what do option "Update current install". I found
nothing about this in CorelDraw 9 User Guide, Corel site... I saw, what
install writes files from CD-R to disk, but after this I found, that
version of Draw9 and Pain9 still 397. What update this option? Default
options? Registry? Something more?

After this I do clean unninstal of all Corel Draw 9 Graphis suite and
try to install all again. Now all pass perfectly. I put SP1 and printing
patch. And all works now greatly. I don't do "Update current install"
second time.

P.S. Sorry, my english is bad.
P.S.2 If somebody will try to do this, can you write here your results?
P.S.3 Happy holidays to all... :)

Hi Valdas!

> I found nothing about this in CorelDraw 9 User Guide, Corel site...

That's why we all are here - to share our experience.

> version of Draw9 and Pain9 still 397. What update this option?

I believe Setup does not replace newer files.

Merry Christmas!
