Photo-Paint has performed an illegal operation

I have had the following problem and I wonder if there is any chance I can
recover my work. Second: Is this a known problem? Is there a patch?

I have waisted 6 hours making an image which at the end Corel Photo-paint
could not load. It gave me the following message"This program has performed
an illegal operation and will be shut down".
It happened with me twice. The second time I started from scratch. I get
this mesaage with both, the saved version and the backup version made 15
minutes before. In both occassions there was no complaint from the program
about the nature of the file I was saving. I could send you the file with
the hope you can recover it for me. No other program was running at the
time. I have 96 mega of RAM.

I know of no way to recover .cpt files. Could you tell me revision of
the software you are using - Go to Help>About - the most current
revision is Rev.C 8.433
