After extensive searches of Corel's KB and the other support NGs, nothing
has revealed an answer. There was one thread from last December in the
Install NG but it never did come to a conclusive solution.

An attempt to update CDR8 (232) with the Draw8RevB update fails at the 5%
mark. It states "drawintl.dll" is outdated and cannot be updated.

The original installation is being done in Windows 95 from a network drive.
It is the CorelDRAW Academic version (for Ontario schools). It crashed after
installing (without rebooting).

Has anyone ever encountered this issue, and know of a workaround? If no one
has an answer, the next step is to copy the CD to a folder locally, install
from there without a login and hope all goes well. I'm just wondering if it
is a flaky dll on the Academic school CDs. My own commercial CD8 had no such
difficulty. I suppose I can check that dll on there...

Meantime...

Cheers,
Larry

I had similar problems previously when I tried to re-install Corel into the
existing directory. It chokes when it finds a component that is newer (e.g.,
from a previous service pack). I, too, have the educational version and just
re-installed from scratch (after OS re-install) without any problems. Make sure
that you install into a new directory (rename the old and keep it for customized
settings), then apply SP1 and SP2. Make also sure to reboot after each install
(install, upgrade1, upgrade 2) and don't run any apps. Corel is very flaky on
installation. The described method should work.

Larry,

I can't find it now but there were clear instructions for reinstalls and
updates posted in this group to get around all sorts of similar
problems.

It comes down to:
1 uninstall corel
2 remove remaining registry keys
3 install everything without rebooting in between: Draw / SP1 / SP2-1 /
SP2-2, then reboot

Good luck,

Marko
