importing ai file into corelv8

I have trouble importing an ai file into corel and previous
correspondence on this subject does not help.

The file was created in Illustrator v8 and saved as v6. When I import I
lose an embedded bitmap image. The vector graphics part imports OK, but
I am also losing some transformations in artistic text - eg stretching
(although this is less of a concern as these can be re-applied to match
the original).

Any suggestions to fix this?

Stewart,

Have you tried other versions as well? Also you can try to import
AI files using PostScript Interpreted import filter.
