Hello Steve:

Arrow head change proportional to line width. A 1Point line have small head
than a 8Points line.

I think the whole arrowhead thing is a bit lame. It would be much better if
the arrowhead shape was placed on screen and you could adjust it. I don't
even bother with it really. If I want an arrow shape I draw it and manually
put it in the drawing.

Another related thing is the way linetypes scale up with the pen weight. Who
wants dashes 2" apart? Hasn't anyone in computer graphics heard about a
product called letraline tape. It had a set dot frequency and an assortment
of widths. AND IT WORKED!

And... sometimes somebody asks about making an offset copy of line work for
use in say a road map. The contour effect is not the answer. I hear the
powerline tool is making a comeback in CD9 so maybe that's what's needed.
Progress?

OK I'm done, Dan.

Hello Dan:

Did you try arrow symbols? Save time drawing arrows. In Draw 9 you can
convert lines, dashed lines, arrow lines to objects by a mouse click and
changes it as you please. Isn't cool?

Best regards

I did a little test and it appears that the arrows scale with the line
weight when the line weights are over 1 point. Arrow heads for lines
under one point default to the one point size.

But the 1 point arrow head is pretty small. It would be good to have
an arrow head about twice its size.

Going back to your original question:

Select the arrowhead you want, and in the Options dropdown, you can
choose to edit it. Or you can create entirely new ones.

Yes. Making a bigger arrow head by editing it in Options works.
And it appears to even stay installed for use in other files. So
that is the solution for me.

There are a number of different arrowheads to choose from, and you can
edit the existing ones or create your own quite easily. In the line
properties dialog, under the arrowhead selectors, the Options
buttons...

Have you tried enabling the "scale with image" option?

Thanks Jerry. I don't use it frequently, and I forgot about it, thanks for
refreshing my memory.

Best regards

To be honest, I've _never_ used it, but it's one of those bits of
trivia that seems to stick anyway.

Don't ask me what I had for breakfast this morning, though. <g>

I bet that your breakfast was a cup of coffee.

OK, line size and arrow head size
arrow head can be adjusted some, it's semi-useful.
The line-font (dash / dot pattern) drives me crazy!
I'm working on drawings of machines, and "should" be doing it in CAD, I
suppose.
But- I scale things so that the machine (maybe 200 inches long) shows as
having is's correct size. This way, I can scale all features correctly,
dimensions draw with correct numbers, etc.
Ever seen what happens to line scaling and dash scaling when your drawing is
running 1/30 or 1/4 scale?
If I want a reasonably thin line, the dashes become invisibly close together,
and it looks like a solid line.
Is there fix for this?
Thanks
Jay
