Corel5 and Win98se File Problems

I installed Corel 5 into my computer in Windows 98, it turned my MS
Publisher files into Ventura files in 'My Docs' and Bitmaps and .gif
files into Photo-Paint files. I have tried to uninstall the Corel
programes, but my files remain the same. Even new files that I create
automatically turn into Corel files. Perhaps the programe is not
properly uninstalled?
