As per the subject, I have been using Corel Photo-Paint for many years
(I have the full Corel Draw 5 Pkg), and find it still meets my rather
limited needs with one exception. I'm having problems saving Corel .cpt
files as .jpgs. I scan photos , massage them respecting size, colour,
sharpness, etc. and then save them as .jpgs so I can post them on the web.
But every once in a while, for no apparent reason that I can figure out,
when it gets to the mini-screen indicating .jpg compression file size (I use
33), and I click OK, my whole system freezes solid! The 3 finger salute
doesn't work, or any other combination other than a complete re-boot.
Normally I can action 3 or 4 pictures before this occurs. Saving to a
different directory may have an adverse effect, but again I can't be sure.
I have checked the Corel site for filter updates and couldn't find any,
nor any reference to this problem anywhere in any of the books or files that
came with the program. My program version is 5.00.G1. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled the program several times but this didn't solve the freeze
problem. I am using Win 98 and have a Pentium II 400. There are
(surprisingly) no other problems in any of the other programs on my Dell XPS
R400, nor is hardware an issue.
Just hope someone else out there has had a similar problem, and found a
solution they can share with me, please. I'm really quite tired of
re-booting!
Thanks,
Garry
