transparent fills

I'm looking for a way to do the following:

Either:

Overlay two different hatch patterns (vertical and horizontal) such that the
intersection of the two sets has both patterns.

OR

Do the same thing with two colors such that the intersection (overlay) of
the two sets is a blend of the colors.

I apparently can't do this in Corel 4, can it be done in a higher version?
