When I access the Rectangle tool, the box I draw is in solid black. How do I
get rid of the black so that only the rectangle line appears?
Please help. Am in the middle of a 4-page newsletter with a tight deadline.

It's possible you have setup CorelDraw with a default to fill graphics
with black.

I think version 3 is similar to version 4. With the rectangular box in
question selected, select the "X" block at the beginning of the color
bar at the bottom of the screen. If the color bar isn't there, select
the fill tool icon menu button (looks like a paint bucket), then select
the "x" icon button from the selection that opens.

Post any questions in the newsgroup.

To change your default fill setting, make sure nothing in the drawing
is selected, then primary-click on the "X" in the color palette for no
fill. You'll get a dialog asking what types of objects you want the
new default to apply to. Select "Graphic" and click Ok. From then on,
you should get unfilled rectangles.
