Can't open CorelDraw 9 files in CD10

I have several CorelDraw 9 files that are labels, using layers to change the
text for different products in the same label family.

CorelDraw 10 is unable to open those files. I get the Application Recover
Manager Wizard, with the message "application unstable". It appears to get
the file about 40% open, and then hangs.

I can import the desired file, but of course have to reformat the layout
size, etc., and all the layers import piled on top of one another.

Other CorelDraw 9 files open without problem, it is the 4-5 files of this
type with layered copy to produce my product labels that is hanging up the
program.

Any suggestions or ideas why?
