To set the default for document specific settings...
1> Start draw with a new empty document.
2> Set the setting in question the way you want it to be.
3> Tools|Options (or type Ctrl+J to open the options dialog) and
click 'Document' in the 'tree' list at the left. Don't click the +
sign to expand its structure, just the 'document' item, to get to the
top level of that branch.
4> Check the 'save document default' checkbox to enable the choices.
5> Make sure that the appropriate type of option to include the
setting you're concerned with is checked. (in this case, GENERAL)
6> OK your way out of the dialog.
This is the same procedure for setting all document options, such as
default guideline setups, styles, etc. Note that each of the
checkable line items on the Save Document Defaults page of the
options dialog corresponds to a 'page' in the document options list
(if you were to expand the 'document' options tree at the left). EG,
since view mode is under the general tab, that's the one you need
enable to set a default view mode, since default fonts, graphic line
weight and fill, etc. are under the styles tab, that needs to be
enabled to set the default of any of those options.
Note that in the case of legacy documents (those created in earlier
versions) or those created in 10 before you made it the default) the
original default (.25") will be in place. You can set it and save the
doc (as ver10) and it will then hold for that doc.
Note also that for making an IN PLACE DUPLICATE, (no offset) the +
key on the numeric keypad has always been faster and easier anyway!
