When creating a new alias in the BDE Adminstrator how does one take
advantage of existing System-DSN settings?

Michael,

Any ODBC DSN should automatically show up in the BDE as an
alias. I've noticed that for some of them, all you need to
do is edit that alias (fill in the DATABASE NAME field and
perhaps some of the other blank ones) and then apply the
edits and restart Paradox. If that doesn't work, try
creating a new alias, using the same driver the ODBC DSN
used, and in the new alias's ODBC DSN field, pick the ODBC
DSN (you may have to save the new alias before you see any
DSNs in the drop-down list).

If this wasn't what you were asking, please let us know
(though, I'm afraid that's about all I know on the
subject...).

Liz

You have to set AutoODBC to True in Bde Admin for the ODBC DSN to show up.
Maybe it's True by default, I'm not sure.
