People have a wide range of expressions; scrapbooks also have a wide
range of "faces". Begin with a basic layout but don't stop there,
continue to add details that put a fresh face on you page. The
combination of smiles shows there many possibilities for expressing a
personality.
Choose the look you want for your page. It can be a moderate level
that you can scale down or pump up. Use close up photos that will draw
attention to your subjects face. Using unmated photos on plain colored
backgrounds will create a crisp look and will save you time and
material, but still gets your point across. Intricate touches, such as
sewn-on buttons, colored eyelets, and decorated tags, along with
matted photos lend to the appearance of your page. Use vellum to
create pockets to hold journal tags or other important mementos that
go along with your photos.
When you are creating a page focusing on faces, encourage your subject
to mug for the camera. Capture the special looks, their sunny, sad and
even funny faces you will want to remember. These expressions will
reflect their true personalities in a playful way. Your subject can be
one person or several. Trying using a few of these techniques with
family members, siblings and friends. Have single pictures of
different people on one page and bring them together with the story
they tell. Your pages will come to life with all the many faces you
showcase through out your albums. Choose the look you want for your
