"View" in WP 12

In my dear old 6.0a one could View a file without Opening it.
I can't find that in WP 12.
Any help, very grateful.

Go into Open or Save
Click on View
Click Preview. It will show "No Preview". Click that bar. When you want to
return to the normal list of documents, repeat the same sequence.
