Wordperfect 11 and Dell/lexmark 1815 and paper trays

Hello all,

I've searched around a bit and haven't found an answer. I have a client
who has Wordperfect 11. They just purchased a dell printer 1815dn. They
also purchased a second tray.

They are running XP pro on their machines.

We are having a heck of a time getting the paper feed situation right.
They want to set up

plain letters - All from tray 1, no letterhead

Letterhead - From tray 2 for the first page (full letterhead) and from
the bypass tray for subsequent pages (Abridged letterhead)


What is happening is that we tried setting up a custom page definition
in the dell printer driver called letterhead. It seems that when you
change the parameters for letterhead, it is linked to Letter and
changes that.

We next tried setting the trays on the printer driver for Letter to
Default for the first and subsequent pages. then we went into WP and
set up the definitions we wanted their for Letter (plain tray 1),
letterhead (Main letterhead tray 2) , and letterhead2nd (abridged
letterhead, bypass tray).

It seems that no matter what we do, we can get the paper to feed from
the right trays. We seem to be missing something. The odd thing is that
their old IBM 4019 fed OK,

With the old 4019, they would go to the first page of the document and
do a page setup and then go to the second page and do a page setup
there.(current and subsequent pages). That worked fine for years.

They could go into the printer preferences every time they want to
print letterhead and get to the tray selection page and set it their.
However, productivity wise, they cannot take the hit.

As far as I know, WP is not fully patched.

Questions.

1. Does WP 11 have issues with the Dell 1815dn (probably a lexmark)
printer drivers when trying to select trays/bypass tray?

2. Can anyone point me to how to make this work?

3. I'm assuming that the way to do this is to have the printer driver
set to default for first and subsequent pages and handle the tray
selection in WP. Is this correct?


I'd really appreciate any ideas.
