WP 11 is slow when I first click "File, Open". It takes about ten
seconds. But the next time I click "File, Open", WP 11 opens the tree
without delay.

What is causing WP 11 to be slow the first time I click "File, Open"?
I am running WP 11 with SP3 on a Dell 4550 running Windows XP with SP2.

I know the cause now, but I don't know the solution. The slowness is
caused by the fact that one of my drives was formatted on another computer.
(Disconnecting the drive solves the problem.)
I need the data, so I don't want to remove or re-format the drive.
Does anyone know a solution whereby I can continue using the drive without
encountering the slowness.
