Dates in Quattro Pro

We are trying to enter dates in Quattro Pro in mm/dd/yyyy format. We
are selecting International Long Date, but every time a date is
entered, all we get are a series of asteriks (we have made sure the
column is wide enough so that is not the problem). Also customized a
date format and it gives the format we want, but changes the numbers.
For example, 12/30/2004 becomes 6/27/1937. Can anyone tell me how to
fix this?
