This should be easy but I've wasted a few hours getting nowhere.

I'm trying to get the PureAve of a block of cells. If I have

@PUREAVG("&~Carb_Ghost_Block&")or
@PUREAVG("Carb_Ghost_Block") or
@PUREAVG(~Carb_Ghost_Block)or
@PUREAVG(+Carb_Ghost_Block) where the cell Carb_Ghost_Block contains

@CONCATENATE(Sheet_Name,":",Col_Carbon,Top_Ghost,"..",Sheet_Name,":",Col_Carbon,Bottom_Ghost)

and the relevant cells contain numerical data the answer is 0. The same
happens for
@PUREAVG(@CONCATENATE(Sheet_Name,":",Col_Carbon,Top_Ghost,"..",Sheet_Name,":",Col_Carbon,Bottom_Ghost))

If I change the contents of Carb_Ghost_Block to a number the formula
returns that number (ie it references the cell contents not the block
the cell points to)

What is the correct way to embed a variable in a function?

cheers,
David

If the variable block was a single cell, you would use the @@ function.
But you are dealing with a range, not a single cell. The only way I know
how do this is using one of the following macros:

+"{PutBlock2 "&"@PUREAVG("&~Carb_Ghost_Block&"), A:F11}"
or
+"{PutBlock2 "&"""@PUREAVG("&~Carb_Ghost_Block&")"", A:F11}"

The first macro, when run, will put the result of the @PUREAVG formula into
cell A:F11. The second macro will put the formula into cell F11 and show
the result. Your choice. Just remember to substitute your block where you
are putting the pure average where I have A:F11.
