I'm working under XP with PDX9.

I'm getting a very curious problem when I'm closing the Paradox Window
called "project viewer".
I get a first message: "Invalid pointer operation" with a title: pdxwin32
I can't anymore re-open the project viewer without closing definitly
Paradox.

Then, if I close Paradox I get a new error message: EAccessViolation
pdxvwr32.dll

My problem is that, even if I uninstall totally Paradox , and reinstall
Paradox, this problem persist !

Of course after uninstalling, I have clean as much as possible the register
of my computer, first with regcleaner, then by hand looking for key word
linked to paradox, corel..etc.... No result...

Could somebody help me?

Dominique,
Try this
I have just done this with P10, XP Home Edition and a standalone PC.
Create a new shortcut and on properties, choose compatibility with NT4 .

No need to re-install Paradox.
Maybe that help

If not have a look at this

> "re-install Paradox while logged on to NT as the user", which means that

If Régis suggestion does not help, you can take a look at this:

Do you get the Invalid Pointer error from every working directory, or is it
just one? If it is just one, then look for non Paradox files in that working
directory.

Searching Google, I found one more idea.

Run Regedit and search for pdxcom32.dll. Verfiy the path to pdxcom32.dll is
correct.

One more thing to try:

Set ProjectViewer to show Details view, before you close it.

I get Invalid Pointer error from every working directory. I get the error
right after the installation (with the default directory chosed by
installation), I get it from my own user directory.

I have check out pdxcom32.dll. But all the declaration of this Dll have the
good path.
For your information, before re-installing paradox, I have clean with
regedit all data having "pdx" inside, in order to avoid a bad registry
information. Meanwhile, I'm sure that it's something wrong in the registry
that give me this problem. My system has been perfectly Ok for more than one
year! I don't know which registry Key cause this, I beleave that its a key
without "Pdx", "corel", because I've allready cleaned all keys contained
those expression before re-installation..

Anyway thank you very very much for your help!

I'm working all the time with Detail view....
I've tried the other view, but the result is the same in any case.. I get
"Invalid pointer".

I have noticed another information... If I open Paradox and close it without
opening documents, I get the only message "Invalid pointer".
If I open a form in design mode for exemple, when I will close Paradox, I
will get first the message "Invalid pointer", and second, when paradix is
totally closed:
Exception EAccessViolation in module pdxvwr32.dll at 00002E28
Access violation at address 05E32E28 in module pdxvwr32.dll . Read of
address 060E6368

This mean clearly that I' ve a problem with the paradox viewer. I've
allready controlled that pdxvwr32.dll had a correct path in my registry
file.

Other suggestions will be wellcome!
Thanks for your help.

When searching the registry, you are searching not only keys, but also
Values and Data, aren't you? pdxcom32 is referenced in the key:
{170513C5-DF54-11D0-90B1-000021617139}\InprocServer
where valuename (Default) contains Data that has a reference to pdxcom32.dll

My standard recommendation is cases like yours, is to get filemon.exe
and regmon.exe from www.sysinternals.com. With those two programs, you
can log all file requests and registry requests made by a program. eg
pdxwin32.exe. Sometimes this can help in finding an illegal file
request based on incorrect information in Registry.
